Yameen slams Abdul Raheem
Abdul Raheem is not a significant asset: Yameen
Yameen heavily criticized Abdul Raheem at Monday's PNF gathering
Yameen said he does not even know how to depreciate him and that he is already a lost cause
He asserted that the incumbent administration has given half its power to the speaker

Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has criticized Speaker of the People’s Majlis Abdul Raheem Abdulla as lacking significance and value.

The former president asserted that the incumbent administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has given half of its power to the speaker and that this was done due to the president’s incompetence.

Yameen said he does not even know how to depreciate him and that he is already a lost cause.

According to Yameen, Abdul Raheem, who also serves as the Chairperson of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC), is not someone who has sincerely stood behind any political leader.

Heavily criticizing Abdul Raheem at the People’s National Front (PNF) meeting held on Monday evening, Yameen said that Abdul Raheem was with Gasim Ibrahim during the 2013 presidential elections.

Yameen said that in the first round of the 2013 presidential election, the former president was far ahead, himself following closely at second, followed by Gasim, with former President Mohamed Waheed Hassan in fourth.

Based on the results of the first round, Yameen said that Abdul Raheem told someone close to him that he said that they didn’t have any money and it would be much better if they supported Gasim to the end, and that Gasim would have secured the win.

Yameen said that Abdul Raheem cannot deny this and that this information came to him from a reliable source.

Further, Yameen added that at the time, Abdul Raheem, while in the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), was not working alongside him.

Yameen said that the truth should have been known, when it went to the point of “digging graves and unearthing bones”.

Criticizing Abdul Raheem, Yameen said that he doesn’t know of a single situation where Abdul Raheem can sit with the youth to gain their support for Yameen.
