Landhoo island in Noonu atoll has been commemorated as the first Digital Island in the Maldives.
Ooredoo Maldives commemorated the island nestled in Noonu atoll, as the first-ever digital island of the archipelago nation on Sunday.
Chief Commercial Officer of Ooredoo Maldives Hussian Niyaz presented a special plaque to the President of the Landhoo Atoll Council, Abdul Azeez as the first digital island of Maldives, on June 16.
The plaque was conferred in recognition of the island’s impressive efforts in adopting a digital innovation aimed at enhancing the lives of its residents.
Further, Ooredoo Maldives’ CCO also unveiled the island’s official website at Sunday’s ceremony.
This special title was first conferred to Landhoo on the occasion of World Telecommunication Day as part of Ooredoo Maldives' Digital Maldives, Powered by AI campaign.
The campaign sheds the spotlight on Ooredoo’s efforts to promote digital inclusion and empowerment across the island nation.
Ooredoo in collaboration with the Landhoo island council, will spearhead an initiative to revolutionize the socio-economic landscape of the island.
