President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met Prime Minister of Samoa Fiamē Naomi Mata'afa.
The meeting took place in Antigua and Barbuda on Monday.
It was held on the sidelines of the fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS), proceeding from May 27 – 30.
President Muizzu shed light on his administration's commitment to fight the climate crisis.
He went on to emphasize some measures taken by the administration to address issues pertaining to climate mitigation.
The Samoan PM briefed the Maldivian leader on the challenges they face as a SIDS and stressed on the importance of SIDS to express solidarity to overcome them, together.
Further, views were exchanged on the challenges faced in financing for development as well as possible alternatives that can be explored.
The meeting also saw the Maldivian president expressing gratitude to Samoa for its leadership as the Chair of Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS).
Diplomatic relations were established between Maldives and Samoa on 2 August 1993.
