President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has offered condolences following the recent landslide in Papua New Guinea.

The Maldivian leader sent a message of condolence to the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea James Marape, MP on Monday.

Expressing immense sorrow on hearing of the devastating landslide that occurred on Friday, taking hundreds of lives in its wake, President Muizzu described the extensive loss of lives, livelihoods, and property as an unimaginable tragedy.

President Muizzu offered condolences on behalf of the government as well as the people of Maldives.

As Small Island Developing States (SIDS), he said the people of Maldives stand in strong solidarity and grieve with the people of Papua New Guinea during these difficult circumstances.

In conclusion, the Maldivian president expressed hope that the search and rescue efforts at the site would operate quickly and successfully.
