Ahmed Samah Rasheed has been appointed as a State Minister at the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources.

The appointment came not long after his dismissal as the CEO of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO). The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) confirmed that he was let go, on Tuesday night.

He was appointed a State Minister for Fisheries, on Wednesday.

Samah was suspended while he was serving as MIFCO’s CEO, on 18 March 2024.

His suspension was lifted on 23 April 2024, following which he returned to work.

Samah was initially placed under a 14-day suspension as PCB conducted an inquiry in response to a corporate governance-related complaint filed against him.

PCB had later on extended his suspension.
