Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer has concluded his official visit to the State of Qatar.
The Maldivian minister departed to Qatar from Velana International Airport (VIA) on May 11.
He concluded his brief visit and returned home on May 13.
As part of the visit, FM Zameer engaged in high-level discussions with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
The discussions saw avenues for further strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between the two countries, explored.
FM Zameer shed light on the growing partnership between the two countries during the meeting and expressed gratitude to the government of Qatar for the generous assistance extended for the socio-economic development of the island nation.
The two ministers reiterated their mutual commitment to work towards expanding bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Further, the Maldivian minister conveyed appreciation for the role Qatar has played in the mediation process on the Gaza crisis.
They reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the partnership in the multilateral fora on matters of global concern.
FM Zameer also sat down for talks with other senior officials from the government to explore opportunities to enhance cooperation in various sectors between Maldives and Qatar.
FM Zameer was accompanied by Bilateral Secretary Dr. Hala Hameed, Ambassador-at-Large Dr. Fazeel Najeeb and Assistant Director Lamha Saleem during trip.
This year will mark the 40th anniversary since bilateral relations were established between Maldives and Qatar.
