President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has urged the public to prioritize the use of Dhivehi language.
Addressing the public on the occasion of Dhivehi Language Day commemorated on Sunday, the Maldivian leader called upon his people to place higher priority in the usage of the local language in offices, news channels, the education sector and in communicating with one another, overall.
Expressing his desire to encourage generations to become more skilled in the Dhivehi language, Muizzu encouraged Maldivians to embrace the language more.
The public has also been urged to appreciate their mother tongue, even while learning other languages and acquiring knowledge in different sectors.
In addition to this, the president shed light on the importance of preserving the Maldivian identity and asserted that the people should be proud of their indigenous heritage.
Touching upon the importance of the nationalism restoration programme initiated by his administration, Muizzu also shed light on the benefits of this initiative.
Going on to emphasize the importance of Dhivehi Language Day by honoring the late Hussain Salahuddin and drawing lessons from his life, the president shed light on the significance of being fluent in the local language, integrating knowledge from other languages into the local context, and achieving success in Dhivehi as a gateway to be skilled in other languages and fields of knowledge.
