President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has been briefed on plans to generate employment opportunities in Kunahandhoo island of Laamu atoll.

This was done during a meeting the president held with the island’s councilors and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) members as part of his tour of several islands in Laamu atoll which he began on Thursday morning.

Meeting the council and WDC members of the island, President Muizzu engaged in discussions regarding key concerns and important needs of the island community.

The meeting saw councilors briefing the president on obstacles hindering the island’s development.

Councilors shed light on the inadequate sanitation facilities.

They also emphasized the necessity of constructing a football field for the island’s youth community.

In addition to this, they shared their thoughts on resuming stalled development projects and developing the island’s school further.

Other key concerns shared with the president include the issue of swell surges during high tides.

The president was also briefed on the urgent need to resolve issues in accessing hospital services.

The members of his cabinet accompanying him on the tour provided updates on the ongoing initiatives by the administration aiming to address the issues raised by the councilors.

President Muizzu assured the councilors that their recommendations would be considered, and that the government would seek ways to pursue them.
