The government is to establish a hospital in Mulah island of Meemu atoll.

This was announced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, while speaking to residents of the island earlier this week.

Taking the podium at the event, the president pledged to dedicate all necessary efforts to make this project a reality.

Noting that the government would upgrade the island’s health center to a hospital as pledged, Muizzu assured that provisional measures would be implemented to cater to the immediate healthcare needs of the community.

The president also pledged to expand the island’s harbor to 1,400 feet.

Efforts will also be made to develop the fisheries sector, in Mulah.

Further, the president announced that he would make every effort to ensure the development needs of the community are met within his five-year presidential term.

Shedding light on his commitment to establish a comprehensive local governance system, the president said that he has been regularly visiting the islands to engage in direct discussions with island councils to mirror this commitment.

Muizzu stated that these visits allows him to personally assess the progress of development projects and empower local councils to play a more significant role in these efforts
