Discussions have been held on boosting the transportation network of Dhaal atoll.
This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with members of Dhaal Atoll Council on Tuesday.
Discussions at the meeting revolved around the most pressing development concerns facing the atoll, including the diversification of income-generating avenues across the atoll’s islands.
Councilors also touched upon the need to facilitate local services for issuing national identification cards and passports without the need to travel to the capital Malé City.
Shedding light on the need to expedite the development of a fish processing factory in the atoll, the councilors stressed the need to harness the economic potential of uninhabited islands in the atoll for the benefit of local councils.
The president was also briefed on the need to improve waste management, enhance services at the atoll hospital and to enhance the transportation network of the atoll.
Listening to these concerns, the president assured the members that his administration would address the issues raised by the council and seek solutions to tackle them, through consultations with relevant authorities.
Members of the president’s Cabinet of Ministers accompanying him on the tour shared latest updates linked to the issues raised, at the meeting.
