President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has concluded his tour of several islands in Baa and Raa atolls.
The president departed on the three-day visit from Velana International Airport (VIA) on March 2.
He returned to capital Malé City after concluding the tour, on March 4.
A high-level delegation of government officials accompanied the president during the tour.
As part of the visit, the president visited several islands in Baa and Raa atolls where he sat down for talks with island residents, councils, Women’s Development Committees (WDCs) as well as the atoll councils of the respective atolls.
As part of the meetings, the president addressed the development requirements of the islands and atolls.
The discussions mostly revolved around the most pressing needs of the island communities.
The president has on multiple occasions expressed commitment to visit all islands across the nation at least twice within his five-year presidential term.
As part of these efforts, Muizzu will interact with local communities and councils, actively seeking ways to smoothly expedite development initiatives.
The president is expected to engage in discussions regarding the priorities of the island communities, as well as their development vision for their respective islands.
President Muizzu in February undertook a visit to southernmost Addu City and Fuvahmulah City, as well as Thinadhoo City and islands of Gaaf Alif and Gaaf Dhaal atolls. During this tour he engaged in discussions with island communities and councils, except for two councils in Gaaf Alif atoll.
The president most recently undertook a tour of islands in Haa Alif, Haa Dhaal, Shaviyani and Noonu atolls, where he engaged in discussions with councils except one in Noonu atoll.
During these meetings, the president had assured councilors and island residents that the administration would seek ways to address the concerns of the respective communities and tackle the issues raised at meeting, through consultations with relevant authorities.
