Discussions have been held on the development needs of the community of Neykurendhoo island in Haa Dhaal atoll.

This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with the island’s council and the Women's Development Committee (WDC) on Monday.

Discussions at the meeting revolved around the need for harbor expansion, expediting the school's new classrooms project as well as the need to relocate the Fenaka Corporation power plant away from the island’s residential area.

Councilors also sought from the administration to install a modernized waste management system and upgrade their health center to better provide healthcare services to the island residents.

In addition to this, councilors expressed the need for enhancements to health facilities as well as the need to develop sports facilities.

The meeting also saw members of the island’s WDC sharing challenges surfacing for them due to budgetary constraints.

Listening to these concerns, the president assured the island council and WDC members that the concerns raised at the meeting would be addressed through consultations with relevant authorities.

The meeting also saw members of the president’s Cabinet of Ministers، accompanying the President providing updates on the government’s efforts to address the concerns raised.
