Council members of Maarandhoo island of Haa Alif atoll, have shared the urgent needs of the island community, with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
This was done during a meeting the president held with the island’s council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) on Saturday.
The meeting saw discussions revolving around the need for enhancing electricity, medical laboratory and banking services on the island.
Councilors stressed the importance of upgrading sports facilities and shed light on the need for a new building to house the council secretariat.
They went on to request the government to include Maarandhoo Faru under the jurisdiction of Maarandhoo.
Maarandhoo councilors shed light on the need to swiftly expedite the island’s harbor development project.
The island’s WDC members stressed the need for a conducive work environment and urged the government to provide more training opportunities.
Listening to these concerns, the president assured that the administration would convey the concerns raised by the council, with relevant authorities to seek agreeable solutions.
