Discussions have been held on issues linked to the economic and social progress of Madaveli island in Gaaf Dhaal atoll.
This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with members of the island council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) on Tuesday, as part of his tour of some islands in the south of Maldives which he began on Sunday morning.
During the meeting held at the secretariat of the Madaveli council, councilors shed light on the multiple issues that are linked to the economic and social progress of the island.
Some of these include land reclamation, new housing units, expanding the port, improving the health center, expanding the school’s space by building a multipurpose hall and establishing an ATM vestibule.
Further, they also stressed the need to improve the mechanism of water sanitation and overflow systems as well as supporting youth development.
Listening to these concerns, the president assured councilors that his administration remains fully committed to thoroughly look into the issues raised by the council, and find agreeable solutions to tackle them.
Cabinet Ministers who accompanied the president on the visit, shared the latest updates on development projects initiated on the island, with the councilors.
