President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has been briefed on the development needs of Fiyoaree island of Gaaf Dhaal atoll.
This was done during a meeting the president held with members of the island council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) on Tuesday, as part of his tour of some islands in the south of Maldives which he began on Sunday morning.
During the meeting held at the secretariat of the Fiyoaree island council, the island’s councilors shed light on the their most urgent needs, as well as development concerns.
Some of them include the establishment of a cold storage facility and a fish factory on the island.
In addition to this, they stressed on the issue of space constraints at the island school, the need for increased powerhouse capacity, challenges in providing healthcare services, concerns regarding housing as well as the need for a proper drainage system across agricultural fields.
The president was also briefed on the financial constraints surfacing for the island council.
Listening to these concerns, the president assured them that the administration remains resilient in delivering its development commitments.
The president noted that the government would work to provide an agreeable solution to the issues raised at the meeting, after consultations with relevant authorities.
