Members of the Fuvahmulah City Council have shared the most important development needs of the community, with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
This was done during a meeting the president held with members of the city’s council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) on Monday, as part of his tour of some islands in the south of Maldives which he began on Sunday morning.
During the meeting held at the Fuvahmulah City Council Secretariat, extensive discussions were held regarding the issues facing the island community as well as development needs.
As such, councilors shed light on the significance of moving forward with the second phase of road construction which commenced on Monday.
They also stressed the need to finish the remaining roads, as swiftly as possible.
In addition to this, the councilors expressed urgency to begin the construction of the proposed 400 housing units as soon as possible.
President Muizzu was also briefed on the need for high-quality services to start at the hospital, space constraints at the harbor, expansion of the airport runway, increasing the capacity of powerhouses, early completion of the fish storage system as well as building a new hospital.
