The incumbent administration will support the development needs of island communities, as conveyed by their respective councils, says President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
He said this during a meeting held with residents of Omadhoo island of Thaa atoll on Thursday.
The meeting was held as part of the president’s brief three-day tour of some islands of Thaa atoll, which he began on Tuesday and concluded on Thursday.
Taking the podium at the event, the president noted that his administration would support the development needs of island communities, as conveyed by their respective councils.
Highlighting that his administration is committed to prioritize the interests of the people, Muizzu added that his administration would focus on resolving the issues of space constraints and facility limitations at Omadhoo Island School.
Further, he pledged to place more priority on projects aimed at improving livelihoods of the community. Some of these projects include water and sanitation projects and projects aimed at the economic prosperity of the residents.
In addition to this, he expressed commitment to support councils, enabling residents to fully realize the economic potential of the uninhabited islands within their jurisdiction.
Muizzu went on to shed light on the requirement of reviewing the development projects and submitting a reviewed list in order of significance to the island's progress.
