The master developer of the Maldives Economic Gateway Integrated Project in the north of Maldives, has been appointed.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu made the decision on Sunday, following recommendation from his Cabinet of Ministers.

Extensive deliberations were held on a paper submitted by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade at the cabinet meeting.

Muizzu designated Maldives Industrial Development Free Zone Public Limited as the master developer for the Maldives Economic Gateway Integrated Project in Ihavandhipolhu.

Maldives Industrial Development Free Zone Public Limited was awarded the development rights for the project area.

The Maldives Economic Gateway Integrated Project revolves around maritime services, economic security, real estate and tourism.

President Muizzu also decided to declare the project implementation area, a Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
