The Maldivian first couple has toured the Great Wall of China.
The tour was conducted on Friday morning, as part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed’s ongoing state visit to China.
The visit saw the Maldivian first couple signing the guest book at the site.
Muizzu stated that the Great Wall is a historic symbol of enduring strength, human achievement and unity.
Spanning 21,000 kilometers, the Great Wall of China is a historic landmark which is considered a UNESCO heritage site for its historic, cultural and architectural significance.
President Muizzu and FL Sajidha departed to the People’s Republic of China on a state visit on January 7. The state visit is being conducted upon an official invitation from the President of China, Xi Jinping. The first couple is accompanied by a high-level delegation of government officials during the visit.
The Maldivian First Couple is undertaking a visit to China at a time relations between India and Maldives have soured once again, over posts on social media platform ‘X’ by deputy ministers close to the president.
