The Maldivian first lady has toured the Soong Qingling Science and Culture Centre for Young People in Bayi Lake in Yuyuantan in Beijing, China.
First Lady Sajidha Mohamed conducted the tour on Thursday, as part of the Maldivian First Couple’s ongoing state visit to China.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Sajidha departed to the People’s Republic of China on a state visit on January 7.
The state visit is being conducted upon an official invitation from the President of China, Xi Jinping.
The first couple is accompanied by a high-level delegation of government officials during the visit.
The visit saw representatives from the Soong Qingling Science and Culture Centre for Young People giving the Maldivian first lady an introduction on the center.
Sajidha took a tour and inquired about significant areas in the center.
Established in May 1982 in memory of the late honorary president of the People's Republic of China, Soong Qing Ling, the Soong Qing Ling Foundation is the organization that oversees the Soong Qingling Science and Culture Centre for Young People.
The Maldivian First Couple is undertaking a visit to China at a time relations between India and Maldives have soured once again, over posts on social media platform ‘X’ by deputy ministers close to the president.
