President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has decided to reserve certain jobs exclusively for Maldivians in fields with talented, interested and promising Maldivian youth.

The President made this decision following discussions on a paper submitted by the Ministry of Higher Education during Sunday’s Cabinet meeting.

This policy's main objectives include developing Maldivians in specific sectors and preventing the decline of Maldivians working in these fields. Hence, the positions listed in these fields will only be open to Maldivians and there will be numerous phases to the policy's implementation.

Boat building, carpentry, hairstyling and beauty, resort musicians and bands, customer service, housekeeping manager, front office manager, human resources manager, diving instructor and tour guide are some of the specialized vocations reserved only to Maldivians.

The relevant agencies will prioritize training Maldivians in these areas.
