Starting the next academic year, daily school sessions will begin with the national anthem.
This was announced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during a press conference held on Tuesday.
The presser was held following a meeting with his Cabinet of Ministers.
President Muizzu announced the implementation of a new plan to mandate the daily commencement of school sessions with the National Anthem from the beginning of the new academic year.
Shedding light on his decision to promote the national anthem and love for the national flag, President Muizzu stated that it was important to instill the love for overall nationalism among school students.
Adding that instilling nationalism among the people was one of his key presidential pledges, President Muizzu noted that the decision to make it mandatory to play the national anthem at the beginning of school session from the next academic year, involves incorporating the national anthem into the daily assembly at the beginning of school sessions, which is an initiative aiming to foster a sense of nationalism among students.
The incumbent administration’s ‘Hafthaa 14’ roadmap includes comprehensive national-level programs for schools that foster love for Islam, nationalism, and an appreciation for the country's history and culture.
