Top executives have been appointed to the President’s Office.
The appointments were made following the inauguration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef on Friday evening.
The newly appointed executives at the President’s Office, were handed their Letters of Appointment during a ceremony held at the President’s Office at 8pm on Friday.
Appointed include Chairperson of the main ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) Abdul Raheem Abdulla as Special Advisor to the president and Abdulla Fayaz as Chief of Staff.
Further, five ministers were appointed at the President’s Office, including Ali Arif as minister for presidential affairs, Abdulla Nasir, Adam Rameez, Ibrahim Khaleel as minister for strategic communications and Ahmed Hisham Wajeeh as minister for legal affairs.
President Muizzu also appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police (retired) Ibrahim Latheef as National Security Advisor.
Other appointments made on Friday include Mohamed Naseer as Principal Secretary to the President on Foreign Relations, Ahmed Ali Habeeb as Principal Secretary to the President on Cabinet Affairs and Mohamed Shahid as Principal Secretary to the President on Corporate Development.
Mohamed Ali Janah was appointed Principal Advisor to the President on Trade and Investment and Mohamed Khaleel as Advisor to the President on Tourism Development.
Three secretaries were also appointed to the newly inaugurated president, including Hussain Amir as secretary on corporate services, Abbas Shareef as secretary on legal affairs and Dr. Aishath Ikram as secretary on public policy.
The principal advisor to the president on trade and investment and the advisor to the president on tourism development are positions without remuneration.
In addition to this, Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed was appointed as the Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mohamed Shahudhee as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
