The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has filed a petition at the Supreme Court, seeking to suspend sittings of the People’s Majlis until the no-confidence motion against Speaker and Former President Mohamed Nasheed is carried out.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, MP for Eydhafushi constituency Mohamed Rasheed Hussain revealed that decisions will be taken depending on the time and situation and that the matter would be taken up at the Supreme Court on Sunday.

The matter has since been filed at the Supreme Court online.

MP Rasheed highlighted that the parliament would function within the legal mandate and that they would not allow anything to be done against the rules.

He also added that there is a lot of work to be done, linked to the citizens, and that a fair solution should be reached before the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, as there would be room for questioning if the ceremony is held in such a situation.
