The harbor breakwater and coastal protection project initiated in Rasdhoo island of Alif Alif atoll is well underway.
This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Wednesday.
As such, taking to Twitter to provide the latest updates of the Rasdhoo harbor breakwater and coastal protection project, MTCC revealed that the final shipment of concrete blocks required for the construction of a quay wall were transferred to the project site on October 16.
Currently ongoing is the installation of concrete blocks required for the construction of a quay wall.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to conduct reclamation operations in an area spanning 106,552 cubic meters and construct a breakwater measuring 106 meters.
The project also entails the construction of a 1,656-meter revetment, a quay wall measuring 177 meters, 224-meter groynes and a ramp measuring 11 meters by 11 meters.
The construction of a concrete bridge measuring 43 meters by two meters and another concrete bridge measuring 20 meters by two meters also come under the scope of the project.
The company will also be installing a harbor pavement measuring 795 square meters, alongside navigational lights and harbor lights.
The Rasdhoo harbor breakwater and coastal protection project is valued at MVR 80.4 million.
The project was mobilized on 9 August 2023.
