President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met the United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator to the Maldives, Catherine Haswell.
The meeting took place on Tuesday, at the President-elect's Office.
Dr. Muizzu was accompanied by the Vice-President-elect Hussain Mohamed Latheef.
During the meeting, Dr. Muizzu highlighted that the UN's assistance in achieving Maldives' development goals, strengthening institutions as well as consolidating the country's democracy, and expressed his gratitude for all of the assistance provided to the Maldives.
He also requested the UN to keep providing these assistance even during his tenure.
The Resident Coordinator assured the full support and cooperation of the UN to the Maldives. She stated that the UN would fully support the new government's first 100 days pledges and the national development plans pledged in the manifesto of the President-elect.
The UN Resident Coordinator also praised the commitment to empower women in the President-elect's manifesto.
