President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with the British Ambassador to the Maldives, Caron Röhsler.

Dr. Muizzu met with the British Ambassador at his office, on Wednesday. He was accompanied by the newly elected Vice President, Hussain Mohamed Latheef.

During the meeting, the British Ambassador congratulated Dr. Muizzu for winning the Presidential Election, on behalf of the British Government, the people and as well as her self.

She also expressed hope that the relations between the United Kingdom and the Maldives would be further strengthened under Dr. Muizzu's leadership.

The British Ambassador also stated that it was a great honor to be the first foreign diplomat to meet the President-elect after his victory on 30 September. She noted that this is sign that Dr. Muizzu and his administration would continue to maintain the close relationship that the governments of Maldives has been maintaining with the UK.

During the meeting President-elect Dr. Muizzu expressed his gratitude for the assurance given by the British Ambassador that the UK would continue to support and cooperate with the newly formed government. He also assured that he would work to strengthen relations with the UK in all areas.

Dr. Muizzu expressed hope that the close relationship with the UK would help achieve many new developments that would benefit the country and its people.
