Newly completed infrastructural development projects have been inaugurated across two islands of Raa atoll.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the new projects initiated under his administration, as part of his campaign tour across Raa atoll, in a bid for re-election in this year’s Presidential election, slated for September 9.

Inaugurated on Tuesday were an extended healthcare center and football ground in Maakurathu island and a new extension block of the Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital.

The government has reached a significant milestone in bringing quality healthcare services to the islands with the completion of the projects, expected to provide immense benefits to local communities. These projects also mark an important step forward in infrastructural development.

The new Maakurathu health center extension building was constructed by Samaal Construction private limited and features an administrative area for managing healthcare employees, a public health unit providing preventative and promotional health services, a health education room as well as a storeroom.

The implementation of this facility mirrors the incumbent’s commitment to deliver quality healthcare services to the island communities nationwide.

The new football ground inaugurated on the island was layered with turf, which in turn provides a high-quality playing surface for athletes on the island.

Further, implemented by Alia Investment private limited, the new extension building of the Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital features a range of state-of-the-art facilities including an emergency room, a radiology room, a laboratory, a theatre, a Clinical Services Specialist (CSS) room, and a private ward with ten beds.

These new services which are expected to improve access to medical care and support, will significantly boost the healthcare services provided to the island community

The government-led initiatives have ensured that the quality of life of island residents has been enhanced and they have been empowered to lead dignified lives.

President Solih has been officially inaugurating several development initiatives that have been completed across the scatter of islands comprising the Maldives, as part of his campaign tours.

The incumbent administration has made significant strides towards the equitable development of all inhabited islands nationwide without discrimination, under the able leadership of President Solih.
