President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated a series of newly completed infrastructure projects in Kinolhas Island of Raa Atoll.
The projects were inaugurated during the President's ongoing visit to the islands of Raa Atoll, on Wednesday.
The newly inaugurated projects are the upgraded harbor of the island, newly built powerhouse, the Fenaka office, and the water and sewerage network project commissioning.
The administration contracted the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to upgrade the island's harbor.
MTCC was contracted to do dredging and excavation operations under the project.
Additionally, the company also did construction work of a 162m groyne, a 285m breakwater, a 65m revetment, a 186m quay wall and a ramp.
MTCC also installed a 1663.36sqm harbor pavement, navigational aids and harbor lights, under the project.
The value of the project was MVR 45.1 million.
These enhancements have improved the safety and functionality of the harbor.
The Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) was contracted to construct the island's water supply and sewerage network.
The newly built powerhouse in Kinolhas Island represents a significant upgrade to the existing infrastructure. Its strategic location away from the residential area minimises disruption to the island's inhabitants. The state-of-the-art facility has a power generation capacity of 688 kilowatts.
The President also inaugurated the Fenaka office in the island, further enhancing the local infrastructure.
The newly inaugurated infrastructure represents a significant investment in the development and well-being of the local community. These improvements will improve the quality of life for residents and support the island's continued growth.
Under President Solih's leadership, the administration has achieved significant strides towards equitable development across all inhabited islands in the Maldives. This includes enhancing the quality of life for citizens and empowering them to lead dignified lives. During his visits to various islands, President Solih is officially inaugurating the completion of numerous projects and services.
