President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has urged the public to learn from the invaluable lessons of Hijra.
He made this appeal in his message to commemorate the Islamic New Year 1445, on Tuesday.
In his message, the president called on the public to learn from the invaluable lessons of Hijra and to believe the journey and its teachings to be a path for personal and societal growth.
Extending warm wishes of the Islamic New Year to his people as well as leaders and organizations of the Islamic Ummah, President Solih shed light on the importance of Hijra, where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Muslims migrated from Mecca to Madinah in search of peace.
Stating that the Muslim community was allowed to flourish only with the peace in Madinah, the president called on his people to reflect on the lessons of Hijra during the Islamic New Year.
The Maldivian leader went on to push his people to build the nation on a foundation of peace and harmony, which will in turn leave a legacy of economic and social prosperity for future generations.
He also spoke about the importance of prioritizing national interests above all else.
The president went on to wish that his people are showers with many blessings and happiness in the Islamic New Year.
