Vice President Faisal Naseem has urged the greater empowerment of women across all sectors.
He made this appeal during the function held to commemorate this year’s World Population Day on Tuesday.
Taking the podium at the event held at the Islamic Center, VP Naseem stated that women make important contributions to social development and urged for more efforts to create opportunities for women in all sectors.
Addressing the importance of women's empowerment as well as its impact on social stability and community development, VP Naseem highlighted the administration's initiatives to support women.
Speaking on the importance of putting the nation first, VP Naseem urged the public to make national development the highest priority.
The Vice President also urged for more joint efforts to attain national development and promote an economic transition.
During Tuesday’s event, VP Naseem launched the 'State of the World Population Report' and the 'Census 2022' results.
Expressing appreciation for all the contributions made by individuals to prepare the SWP Report and the census results, VP Naseem stated that the census results for 2022 would facilitate the identification of priority areas for national development planning.
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Maldives Bureau of Statistics organized a photo exhibition for Tuesday’s event, titled "For Every Age".
VP Naseem toured the photo exhibition, which showcased the stories and experiences of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
The photo exhibition also aimed to raise awareness of the lifecycle approach and gender dimensions of preventing ageing populations.
