The Senior Citizens Center developed in capital Malé City, is to be opened in the near future.
This was announced by Vice President Faisal Naseem during his speech at the 10th anniversary function of the Maldives Senior Citizens Association, held at the STELCO meeting hall on Tuesday.
Taking the podium at the event, VP Naseem revealed that the work to develop a Senior Citizens Center in the capital city has been completed and that it will be opened in the near future.
Sharing plans to establish similar centers in Hulhumalé as well as outlying atolls, the Vice President shed light on the benefits these facilities will undoubtedly provide to the youth and elderly communities across the nation.
Further, he went on to shed light on the significance of the experiences of senior citizens and noted that a country advances by utilizing the thoughts and ideas of all people of all ages.
VP Naseem recognized the contributions of senior citizens as role models and the sincere services they have provided to the nation and state over the years.
The ceremony saw VP Naseem launching a book by ‘Madulu’ Mohamed Waheed, titled “Dhivehi Is’rahvehinnah, Loaiybaa’eku” which roughly translates to “With love, to Maldivian senior citizens”.
The book was donated to the Maldives Senior Citizens Association.
VP Naseem was also presented with a book authored by Baduru Naseer, a member of the association and recipient of the Order of the Dignified Rule of the Dhiyamigili Dynasty (ODRDD), titled “Dhivehi Raajjeyge Radiogai, Alhuganduge Ba'eh Handhaanthah" which roughly translates to “A memoir of my time and experiences at Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu”.
