A hearing scheduled in the case of bribery charges raised against Former President Abdulla Yameen, Ahmed ‘Krik’ Riza and two other companies through the transactions of illegally leasing Fuhgiri island in Raa atoll, has been cancelled, again.

The hearing was scheduled for 9am on Sunday.

The court revealed that the hearing was cancelled as Riza is still not feeling well.

The previous hearings scheduled in connection with the case, were cancelled after the court was informed that Krik Riza, accused in the case, was unwell.

This is the fifth time a hearing in the Fuhgiri corruption case, has been cancelled.

RaajjeMV understands that Krik Riza had informed the court that he would be unable to attend hearings for a month, due to his ailment.

According to the court, they have received medical documents confirming Riza’s health condition.

Hearings in connection with the case were scheduled, before the Eid-Al-Adha holidays as well.

Currently ongoing is the recording of testimonies by witnesses presented by the prosecution.

During the last hearing held in connection with the case, the court recorded the testimony of an individual who was working as a digital evidence examiner at the Digital Evidence Laboratory of the Maldives Police Service (MPS), alongside collecting the fingerprint analysis report submitted as evidence.

Judge Ali Nadheem is presiding over the case at the Criminal Court.
