First Lady Fazna Ahmed has attended the closing ceremony of the 'Burunu Shikaara Bodyboarding Challenge 2023'.
The closing ceremony was held at the 'Raalhugandu' surf break in Malé City on Tuesday.
The final heats of the three categories of the tournament: junior division, men's open division, and drop knee division were observed by the first lady, prior to the closing ceremony.
Twenty-five athletes competed in the three categories of the tournament.
FL Fazna conferred trophies to the winners, runners-up, and third-place finishers in the junior division category.
Tuesday’s ceremony also saw a minute of silence observed in memory of the late Ibrahim Sharoon Ahmed Shukoor, a prominent surfer who contributed immensely to the sports of surfing and bodyboarding.
The 'Burunu Shikaara Bodyboarding Challenge 2023' was held from June 18 – 20 and it was the fifth edition of the competition.
The tournament was the inaugural event of the National Bodyboarding League 2023.
