The official talks between the Maldives and Seychelles were productive, says Vice President Faisal Naseem.
The Vice President made these remarks during his courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan.
VP Naseem met with the President of Seychelles, on Monday, at the President's Office.
At the meeting, VP Naseem expressed confidence that the official talks between the Maldives and Seychelles were productive and would lead to increased collaboration and cooperation between the two nations.
Additionally, the Vice President and the Seychellois President described the state visit as a significant demonstration of the close relationship between the two countries. They also expressed their interest in working closely to discuss matters of mutual interest, particularly to strengthen existing cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels. In this regard, they noted collaboration in tourism, climate change, and youth development.
The Vice President stated that receiving the Seychellois President in the Maldives was an honour. He expressed his pleasure at witnessing the strengthening of ties between the two countries during President Solih's administration.
Furthermore, the Vice President and the Seychellois President expressed their desire to continue communicating to strengthen the bilateral relationship and find new ways to expand the existing collaboration.
The two countries established diplomatic relations on July 1, 1980.
The Seychellois President, Wavel Ramkalawan and First Lady, Linda Ramkalawan arrived in the Maldives on Sunday afternoon.
Their visit comes at an official invitation by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
