Nominations for the "National Award for Public Service" to close on Sunday
The office revealed that nominations will be accepted through the designated portal for the awardhttp://apply.presidency.gov.mv.
Applications for the "National Award for Public Service" were opened on March 19, 2023.
The application forms are available for download on the President's Office website.

The deadline for submitting nominations for this year’s "National Award for Public Service" will close next Sunday, April 30, 2023.

Individuals and organizations may forward the nominations to the designated portal until April 30.

The office revealed that nominations will be accepted through the designated portal for the awardhttp://apply.presidency.gov.mv.

The criteria publicized in the government gazette for the award include:

  • No criminal records
  • Adherence to company code of conduct
  • The employee’s progress at the company
  • Participation in company activities
  • Contributions made towards the development of their respective field or the company
  • Attention to assigned tasks and duties

It has been declared that candidates for nominations must be free of any convictions or active investigations involving major offences as defined by Section 22 of the Maldives Criminal Procedure Act. According to the committee, each nominee's criminal history will be given special attention.

The nominee's contributions to the advancement of their respective office or field will be taken into consideration by the committee in addition to the caliber of their work.

The award mirrors the prestigious National Award of Honor and is presented to those who have served for the nation for over 35 years.

The 'National Award for Public Service' will honor the various accomplishments of nominees, and the caliber of their work as well as contributions to the advancement of their particular disciplines will be taken into consideration. The honor will be given to those who have worked resolutely for the country for over 35 years and have received praise for it.

When evaluating the nominations, the Awards Committee will take into account the nominees' professional accomplishments and contributions to the development of their respective professions.

The award, similar to the “National Award of Honor”, also recognizes the individual achievements of nominees. Recipients will be awarded a plaque, badge and a commemorative shield.

The award was introduced to honor and reward persons who have made outstanding contributions to the public sector by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on February 23, 2021, during a meeting with his Cabinet of Ministers.

Similar to previous years, the National Awards 2022 will have 33 categories and be held in conjunction with the formal Republic Day event, during which the president will deliver the National Award for Public Service to the honorable recipients.

In February this year, 86 individuals were conferred the National Awards for Public Service 2022, those of whom included two individuals who had served the state for more than 50 years.
