The quay wall sheet piling work for the first phase of the MIFCO Harbor Development Project in Hulhumeedhoo district of southernmost Addu City, has been completed.
This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
MTCC was awarded the S. Hulhumeedhoo MIFCO Harbor Development Project by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
The project was awarded to the company on 30 October 2019, under design and build basis.
According to MTCC, the quay wall sheet piling work for phase one of the project has been completed.
They went on to highlight that the new harbor dredging work has reached 76 percent completion as well.
Further, the new entrance channel dredging component of the S. Hulhumeedhoo MIFCO Harbor Development Project has reached overall 86 percent progress.
Under the project, MTCC is dredging a new harbor measuring 471,380 cubic meters and reclaiming land in an area spanning 1,788 cubic meters.
The quay wall built under the project measures 97 meters.
The S. Hulhumeedhoo MIFCO Harbor Development Project is valued at MVR 68.8 million.
