The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Adam Azim and his team has inspected the progress of the ongoing airport shore protection project of Kulhudhuffushi City.

MTCC mobilised the site for the development of shore protection structures in Kulhudhuffushi Airport in January 2023.

The CEO had earlier stated that the entire revetment had to be removed and a new revetment will be installed at the airport as the existing revetment was not properly installed.

He also stated that the project will be completed by the end of March 2023.

Under the project MTCC will be developing shore protection structures at the Kulhudhuffushi Airport.

The company will be constructing an 882m revetment and a 30m groyne.

The value of the project is USD 2.7 million.

The airport's runway is 1,200 meters long and 30 meters wide. The airport was constructed on 15 hectares of land reclaimed from Kulhudhuffushi City on Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

The Kulhudhuffushi Airport was officially opened in 2018.
