Vice President Faisal Naseem has presented letters of appointment to principals of the first batch of the "Principals' Scholarship Scheme".

The letters of appointment to principals of the first batch of the "Principals' Scholarship Scheme" was presented on Thursday.

At a ceremony held in the Champa Central Hotel, the Vice President presented letters of appointment to 17 principals who had completed the programme.

The principals completed their "Masters of Educational Management" programme at the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The administration launched the "Principals' Scholarship Scheme" in 2022 to address the shortage of trained local principals and ensure the continuous professional development of principals leading schools across the country.

Speaking after presenting the appointment letters, the Vice President reiterated the commitment of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and his administration to the development of the education sector and strengthening the quality of education, primarily through developing infrastructure and training human resources.

Noting that the administration is currently undertaking professional development programmes in various sectors, he asked the principals who completed the scholarship programme to work alongside relevant stakeholders to address and solve the issues facing the education sector.

The second batch of the three-year scholarship scheme will commence their "Masters of Educational Management" programme this year. The programme seeks to train local principals to lead government-run schools nationwide.
