Hostels to be built with Junior Colleges and TIVET Centers
 
Junior colleges in the islands would specialize in different areas

The government has opened up the opportunity to build TIVET centers in the islands under a public-private partnership

Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan has stated that the hostels will be built with Junior Colleges and TIVET Centers that are being established in islands.

The Higher Education made the remarks while speaking on the “Falasurukhee” program of RaajjeTV.

During the program, the Minister said that the junior colleges in the islands would specialize in different areas. As such, he noted that the Junior College being established in Dhihdhoo island of Haa Alif atoll will specialize in food technology.

He also said that the State of the Arts Center being established in Alifushi island in Raa atoll will specialize in boat building.

Additionally, the Minister stated that the Polytechnic Center being established in Thulusdhoo island in Kaafu atoll will specialize in water sports and food technology, while the Junior College established in Kendhikulhudhoo island of Noonu atoll specializes in tourism and hospitality.

Furthermore, the Higher Education Minister went on to stated that providing TIVET education in the atolls is among the most important policies of the administration. He went on to urge the private sector to partner with the government to facilitate this.

The Minister went onto say that the government has opened up the opportunity to build TIVET centers in the islands under a public-private partnership and that the work is progressing in four islands at the moment.

The Higher Education Minister stated that higher education sector has achieved extraordinary achievements in the past four years. He said that there are historical achievements in this field that future generations will be proud of.
