Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated that the company will be commencing contactless payment card trials of Raajje Transport Link (RTL) mini bus service in Male' City.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, an official of MTCC stated that the company will be commencing the trial runs of contactless payment card usage in the mini buses on Sunday. He said that the trials would be conducted for two days.

The official noted that customers will have the opportunity to use their visa and master cards to take their bus fair during the trial period.

MTCC also noted that the company will be working closely with Bank of Maldives (BML) to check whether the transactions are done correctly.

The company urges their customers to use the contactless payment cards, as more data collection would lead to a better trial run.

MTCC states that the company aims to make this a permanent service , if the service were to get great support during the trial period.

MTCC commenced the RTL mini bus service in Male' on September 05, 2022, and is operating 12 mini buses, in three routes of Male' City. They are Sosun route, Ameenee route and Orchid route.

Mini bus services is available within the city at a cost of MVR seven, per person, per trip. Tickets are available through RTL application. Customers can also pay using cash.

People with special needs, people over the age of 65, children in school uniform and children under the age of three will be able to travel free of charge.

The mini bus operations comes under the Raajje Transport Link services introduced by the government to improve the transportation services of the country. Under RTL, MTCC is providing ferry services and bus services in the country.

MTCC states that customers will be able to view the RTL bus schedule via the company's website. Additionally, customers can also use the company's hotline 1650 to inquire about the services.

MTCC highlights that the company's aim as the largest transportation service provider of the country is to provide the customers with reliable and easily accessible services, at affordable prices.
