Maldives Police Service (MPS) has launched a manhunt for an individual wanted in connection with an ongoing court case.
In a press release issued on Monday, the police institution revealed that they are looking for an individual, required to be presented to the Criminal Court in connection with an ongoing case linked to drug-related charges.
The Criminal Court had ordered MPS to locate the man and take him into police custody before presenting him to court for a hearing linked to the drug-related charges raised against him by the state.
As such, being located is Mohamed Rafil Riyaz, 24 and native to Kamadhoo island in Baa atoll.
The man is accused of attempting to smuggle drugs into the Maldives.
MPS is required to present the suspect to the Criminal Court at 10am on December 7.
The public has been urged to contact the Police Custodial Department through 9991442 if any information is attained on the whereabouts of the suspect.
The police institution also took the opportunity to thank the public for the generous assistance extended in connection with such cases.
