Former Presidents Maumoon, Nasheed and Waheed extend Eid greetings

Former Presidents Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Mohamed Nasheed and Mohamed Waheed have sent Eid greetings to the entire Muslim community.
All three did so via their official social media accounts.
Islamic Ministry had, on Saturday night, decided that Sunday would be Eid Al-Fitr in the Maldives despite the moon not being sighted in any part of the country, adding that the decision was made as a number of Muslim nations had sighted the moon.
Former President Nasheed, sentenced to 13 years over terror charges and now in exile in the United Kingdom, was the first to send Eid greetings, tweeting 'Eid Mubarak to all my fellow Muslims around the world' on Saturday night.
President Maumoon, who ruled the nation for 30 years, sent a series of tweets in three languages on Sunday, wishing 'happiness and contentment' to the Maldivian people, as well as Muslims 'around the world'.
Former President Waheed, who is celebrating Eid in Mecca, sent 'greetings and well wishes' to all.
President Abdulla Yameen, in his address on the occasion, stated that Eid is 'a time to strengthen one's Islamic faith and nations spirit, adding that it "is the time to specially remember the needy and extend a helping hand".
