The Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Republic of Maldives, Abderrahmane Benguerrah, has presented credentials to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The Ambassador of Algeria presented his credentials to the President during a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Tuesday.
After the ceremony, President Solih welcomed the Algerian Ambassador to the Maldives and congratulated him on his new appointment.
In his comments at the meeting the President mentioned that Algeria and the Maldives are deeply rooted in the Islamic faith, and noted that both the countries share common cultural values.
The President went on to share the Maldives government’s commitment to enhancing bilateral and multilateral engagements with friendly countries.
The meeting also saw the Algerian Ambassador stressing on the historic friendship and good relations between the two nations, and he highlighted on the areas of mutual interest and cooperation between the two countries.
Both men concluded the meeting with renewed hope for strengthening the bilateral ties between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.
The Maldives and Algeria established diplomatic relations in 1988.
