Private businesses affected by COVID-19 are invited to apply for financial assistance
40 percent of the project is reserved for women
Under the project assistance will provided in 8 areas

Self-employed people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic are invited to apply for financial assistance, to be provided under the COVID-19 Emergency Income Support Project,

The program, which is being implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development and the World Bank, aims to provide financial and training assistance to those whose income was adversely affected by the pandemic. The Economic Ministry has decided to provide financial assistance in eight areas, under the program .

Areas of financial assistance under this program include

  • Food Production
  • Handicraft work
  • Beauty and makeup
  • Photography and Videography
  • Sewing and textiles work
  • Information Communication Technology
  • Creative Arts and Music
  • Sports and fitness

Those who have been earning their own income for at least six months upto 1st July 2022 can apply for this assistance. The Ministry of Economic Development says that those who have been in paid employment in the past four weeks up to the date of application and, if employed, and are working for more than 20 hours per week cannot apply for this assistance.

In addition, completion of a training program provided by the Ministry of Economic Development is also a requirement for the recipients.

Cash assistance of up to Rf. 60,000 (fifty thousand) will be provided to eligible applicants. 500 opportunities have been opened in the first phase. 40 percent of these opportunities are reserved for women.

Applications should be submitted online through the Job Center portal of the Ministry of Economic Development . Details of the program, application submission procedures and procedures are posted on the Job Center website. The portal will also allow users to view the evaluation and action taken on the applications received by the Job Centre.

The Ministry of Economic Development has set the deadline for applications until 31 October
