The national airline of Italy, ITA Airways will be commencing flights to the Maldives.
ITA Airways disclosed that the airline would commence the flights on December 17, 2022.
These flights will be conducted between Rome and Maldives, Velana International Airport.
ITA Airways states that these directs flights between Maldives and Rome will be conducted until 26 March, 2023. The airline is scheduled to make three flights every week.
Italy is one of Maldives' largest tourist markets. Currently Italy is among the top ten markets of Maldives tourism and is in the fifth position of the list. It is estimated that the country would see more tourists from the Italian market during the last month of the year, or the winter season.
Statistics shows that a total of 49,828 tourists have visited the Maldives from Italy, by July 05. This is 5.9 percent of the total tourist arrival of Maldives so far this year.
