Azim being questioned over comments made on live TV, says lawyer

Adam Azim’s defence lawyer, Ali Zahir has revealed that the former managing director of State Trading Organization (STO) was arrested over comments he had made on a local TV channel.
Azim was arrested on Thursday and issued a six-day remand sentence, over allegations of conspiring to overthrow the current government.
Azim’s lawyer Ali Zahir said that he is being questioned over comments he had made live on SanguTV’s 'Khabarah Fahu’ programme on June 7, adding that he is accused of conspiring to overthrow government, and spreading false information regarding the country’s judicial system.
According to his lawyer, Azim is being accused under clauses 532, 533 and 610 of the Penal Code.
Azim’s arrest and remand was appealed at the High Court on Sunday.
