President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih met with the island council members of Dhonfanu Island in the South Maalhosmadulu Atoll.
The meeting was held at the President’s Office, on Thursday.
During the meeting President Solih and the council members discussed the administration’s developmental plans for the island and the affairs of its residents.
President's Office disclosed that the council member shared with the President challenges posed by the utilization of the harbor and waste management center in the island. They also shared the need for additional housing plots, with the President.
Additionally, the council members raised concerns regarding the space constraints at the island's health center, school and the secretariat of the island council. The councilors highlighted the need to improve education and healthcare services at the island.
The council members also asked the President to designate Hanifaru Island as a picnic island and shared the need for a football stadium in the island.
Speaking with the council members, President Solih briefed them on the latest on ongoing developmental projects and plans for the island. He went on to assure them that the administration would work towards addressing their concerns.
