Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has initiated the physical work for the harbor development project in Dhaandhoo island of Gaaf Alif atoll.

The company revealed that the physical work for the harbor development project, began on March 29.

Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to complete dredging operations in an area measuring 52,099 cubic meters.

Further, they are also required to conduct channel dredging operations for a 4,953-cubic meter area.

In addition to this, MTCC will be constructing a groyne measuring 30 meters, a breakwater measuring 333 meters and a revetment measuring up to 170 meters.

The company will also build a quay wall measuring 529 meters and install a harbor pavement measuring 1,203 squaremeters.

The project, contracted to MTCC by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, is valued at MVR 70.8 million.
