Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail has officially launched his campaign for the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s Chairperson Election.

Speaking at the event, Minister Fayyaz stated that the pace of the current leadership is slow. He said that the party and its members deserves better and what it needs now is for all of its members to work together.
Emphasizing that there was a time when violence against civilians was accepted and regarded as a norm, Fayyaz stated that MDP, being the party that brought freedom and justice to the citizens.
Stating that even though the current government does not trample on people's right to express their concerns and demands for justice, Fayyaz said that the current leadership of the party does not take into account the recommendations of its members in decision making.
While highlighting that MDP is a party that gives equal opportunities to all its members regardless of their age and gender, Fayyaz announced that he will prioritize creating more opportunities for women's in the political field.
Fayyaz assured that he will not be belittling his opponents during the campaign. He said that those taking part in the internal election of MDP will be respectful of each other unlike the other parties.
